Rising to prominence thanks to the Capalot vineyard, which the Burzi family once rented to Roberto Voerzio to produce its famous Barolo Vecchie Vigne dei Capalot e delle Brunate, young Alberto Burzi and his sister Caterina’s winery has a recent history consisting of small steps. Their first step on this path was to begin reappropriating, year after year, the estate vineyards leased to other wineries (most recently Rocchettevino).
In terms of quality, notable is the change of pace that came with the 2019 vintage: from good, well-packaged wines we’ve moved onto a vibrant Barolo, full of energy and opening up new avenues for the future. These avenues are fueled further by new vineyards planted between 2023 and 2024 in Serralunga d’Alba and La Morra, in MGA San Giacomo, although it’s still too early to say if or when they’ll result in new labels.

  • Additional notes
  • First vintage bottled: 2012
  • The classic Barolo comes mainly from the Roncaglie, Rive, and Rocchettevino MGAs, plus a small percentage from the upper part of Capalot.
